Must Buy Bordeaux

Right Bank or Left Bank? Merlot or Cabernet? These are the questions Bordeaux Lovers ponder when going into their cellars. On the below two wines, I just could not decide which I liked better! So I scored them the same. But these two wines could not be more different. I was astounded by the quality and factor in the price and maybe my scores are too conservative. If you have never heard of these wines don’t be too tough on yourself, they rarely make it to the US. I brought them in Chateau Direct so our pricing makes buying these wines a no brainer. Don’t Miss Out on these!

*2015 Chateau des Maures Lalande de Pomerol
$14.99btl/$161.89 per case
(Jim Sirna 94)

One of the smallest appellations in Bordeaux, Pomerol is also one of the most prestigious. All the grapes are destemmed and carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place naturally, and the wine stays on the skins for three to four weeks. Temperatures are kept at 27-29° C. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks and is fined with egg white. This wine has a beautiful, brilliant, ruby-red color with brick-red highlights. The attractive bouquet features plums, anise, forest floor and musky aromas. The elegant tannin provides good texture and balance. This wine is pleasantly fruity with balsamic and candied fruit flavors and a delicious long finish. GREAT POMEROL FOR A PITTANCE!

*2015 Chateau Le Vieux Fort Cru Bourgeois Medoc
$15.50btl/$167.40 per case
(Jim Sirna 94)

Château Le Vieux Fort is ideally located at the tip of the Médoc in the district of Valeyrac, near the Gironde estuary and Atlantic Ocean. Since 1925, the Bergey family has guided the history of the estate, which today is headed up by the 4th generation. With its magnificent ruby, crimson-tinged color, this Cru Bourgeois wine reveals aromas of macerated black fruits with a hint of mint, lifted by roasted notes. Generous and rich on the palate, with relatively firm tannins that will soften over time. A highly characterful Cru Bourgeois wine which leaves a lasting impression of great elegance and breed. GRAND VIN!
