Must Buy/Best Buy
I have never used Best buy and Must Buy in the same e mail header, but this wine deserves all the hype!
Domaine Laroque is an historical estate located in near the ancient walled city of Carcassonne, in southern France’s Languedoc region. It produces an extraordinary and, unique for the region, wine made from 100% Cabernet Franc! During the middle ages, the estate belonged to the Bishop of Carcassonne and was renowned for making the best wine in the region. The name, Laroque, means “rock” and there is a lone standing rock from the Bronze Age that gives the Domaine its name .Today, Albert Sarail owns the estate and is making a wine that is giving Chinon, Saumur and even Bordeaux a run for its money!
When I tasted this wine I was enamored immediately.
When I got the price……I fell in LOVE!
To quote my former employer/mentor, Peter Morrell,

Fellow foodies rejoice. We found a wine born to serve with Cassoulet . Domaine Laroque hails from the ancient walled city of Carcassonne, which is in fact world famous for its delicious Cassoulet. In my opinion this wine is the equal of some of the Loire Valleys best Cabernet Franc producing regions, and even the wines of Bordeaux. The wine has a bright, garnet color and a highly aromatic nose of strawberries, raspberries, roses and a hint of vanilla. Fresh and lively in the mouth with supple tannins and medium long complex finish. Just can’t beat this wine for its price to pleasure ratio.
